Boat License & Safety

New York State Law as of 2025, all operators of motorized vessels, regardless of age, will be required to have a boating safety certificate. However, if you are at least 18 years old, you may RENT a motorboat without completing the Boating Safety course. The Marina must demonstrate how to properly use the boat before renting it.

Although we encourage everyone to earn their Boating Safety Certificate, it is not required for renting a boat in New York State.
